We’re thrilled to announce that the second edition of the SMAPS Laboratory has successfully come to an end! Over the course of eight sessions and six immersive visits, students explored the hidden layers of Venice through a unique experience that blended hands-on learning, local traditions, and sustainable innovation.
A Bridge Between Tradition and Innovation
Throughout the program, participants had the opportunity to meet artisans, cultural practitioners, and local entrepreneurs who are keeping Venice’s heritage alive — not in museums, but in everyday life.
From ancient crafts to forward-thinking approaches to tourism, the lab created space for students to reflect on how sustainability and innovation can coexist with and enhance the city’s historical and cultural identity.

SMAPS Lab was not just a training course — it was an invitation to see Venice differently: through attentive eyes, curious minds, and collaborative action.
“I had never seen Venice like this before. I realized that behind every workshop, every object, there’s a living story that deserves to be heard.”
